    William Binette (He/Him)

    Executive Director of Operations

    William brings his extensive experience as a full-stack engineer and entrepreneur to his position at Oleum Research. With a track record of pioneering user-centric software solutions and a deep commitment to leveraging technology for social good, William is poised to lead Oleum alongside the Board in its mission to advance health research through innovative technologies. His expertise in project management, harm reduction, software development, and development of healthcare initiatives positions him to support Oleum in its mission towards groundbreaking achievements in health and wellness, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of technological advancements in healthcare.

  • Nicholas J. West (He/Him)

    Nicholas J. West (He/Him)

    Executive Director of Technology

    Nicholas J. West is an American software systems engineer and operations specialist with a wealth of start-up experience in both the US and APAC. Nicholas has been building web systems and APIs professionally since 2009, having built his first website in the year 2000 on GeoCities.

    Nicholas is an active open-source contributor who has released MIT-licensed software packages in addition to contributing to the documentation of the Strava API, Elixir's Phoenix framework, React Native Navigation, and other open-source software tools. While working in Hong Kong, Nicholas co-founded the ElixirHK meetup, and still contributes to its organization despite having returned to the United States.

    Prior to his career in tech start-ups, Nicholas helped establish the Rutgers University School of Social Work's hybrid intensive online Doctor of Social Work degree program as its first full-time staff hire, having served from 2013 to 2017.

    Nicholas is also an avid writer and editor who has contributed to the Star-Ledger, InsiderNJ, New Brunswick Today, and the South China Morning Post, in addition to writing multiple free software engineering guides for the ReactJS, VueJS, NodeJS, Solidity, and Elixir communities.

  • Ashley Charzuk (She/They)

    Ashley Charzuk (She/They)

    Harm Reduction Specialist | Certified Peer Support Worker

    Ashley brings her extensive experience in the areas of Peer Support, Comprehensive Community Support Services, HIV/HCV Testing Counseling, and rapid re-housing to the Oleum Research Team. Ashley is also the Founder and Executive Director of New Mexico Harm Reduction Collaborative located in Albuquerque, NM. In addition to her work at NMHRC, Ashley is currently a co-director of the Alcohol Use and Mental Health ECHO at UNM and holds the title of Peer Support Representative on Bernalillo County's Addiction Treatment Advocacy Board. Ashley has been featured in many publications and media endeavors as a voice for New Mexico's Harm Reduction Movement and is an invaluable member to the Oleum Research Team.
